It\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s the start of rainy season here in Florida and when the\nrains started yesterday afternoon, I grabbed the camera and headed out to see\nif I could find a picture that used the rain water within it. First sign of\nrain or stormy weather drives some people indoors where they just put things on\nhold until the sun reappears but I choose to continue the adventure, getting a\nlittle wet in the process. I ended up with this pic of a tiny little flower\ncradling a water drop in the palm of its hand \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a6 savoring the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I guess the phrase \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201ctreading water\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d is derived from a\ngenuine practice of staying afloat in water in an upright posture. But these\ndays most of us would ascribe a different meaning to it. In fact I have come\nacross so many people who at any moment in time are simply treading water \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a6\nstaying afloat but doing sweet little else towards adding value into their\nlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s a shame really because it tells me what I already knew\n\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a6 that most of us go through life thinking that \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cthere is always a tomorrow\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d\nand behaving as if time has no value. I am pretty confident in saying that I\nthink almost all of us understand that time is a finite item. One day it does\nindeed run out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imagine how you would behave is you found out that at noon\ntomorrow you would be gone from this world. How differently would you play out\nthose final 24 hours?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it is the unknown aspect of \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cwhen\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d that makes many of us\nbehave as if it won\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2t be tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yet if that aspect of \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cunknown\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d was applied to almost\nanything else in our lives, we would still behave differently. For example, if\nyou had no idea if you had any money left in the bank, would you run out and\nblow the $200 in your wallet on a pair of shoes? Or if standing in a desert\nwould you use your last bottle of water to get the dust off your shoes without\nknowing where the next water hole is?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2t take every day as if it were our last \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a6 the\nintensity would burn us out and paranoia would reign. But it is also important\nto keep water-treading days to a minimum and spend as much time as we can with\nthose we love, or doing things we love, or whatever it is that moves this\nadventure forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever your week does to you, I hope you enjoy the\nadventure and choose to savor, rather than tread. ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
